Our firm completed Winton Elementary, a K-5, 52,000 sf school in downtown Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The new building replaces the original 1929 school while still maintaining its unique character and spirit. We accomplished this by utilizing similar building forms, materials, and details, such as the brick. The new school spans two stories, with the majority of classrooms located on the upper level, accessible by an elevator providing ADA access to all levels. One of the unique features of this building is the gymnasium, which sits below the main floor due to the building’s intersection with the hill behind the school. We replaced the old half-sized gym with a new full-sized gym while still maintaining the sunken feature of the original. Our team is confident that Winton Elementary will provide an exceptional learning environment for its students and faculty for years to come.
